Trump declares Iran accepted all U.S. terms, including Strait of Hormuz reopening and end to uranium enrichment

President Donald Trump said Friday that Iran has "agreed to everything" the United States demanded in negotiations, including reopening the Strait of Hormuz to commercial shipping, halting all uranium enrichment, and dismantling major nuclear facilities. The declaration, made in comments to NewsNation's Kellie Meyer and in a post on Truth Social, caps weeks of military pressure and high-stakes diplomacy that began with U.S. airstrikes and a naval blockade of Iranian ports.

Asked by Meyer whether Iran had agreed to stop enriching uranium, Trump answered with a single word: "Yes." Pressed on whether the outcome surprised him, he added, "I'm not surprised by anything."

The remarks followed Trump's announcement that the Strait of Hormuz, a chokepoint for roughly a fifth of the world's oil supply, is now open to all commercial vessels. But the president made clear that the U.S. naval blockade targeting Iran specifically will stay in place until what he called "our transaction with Iran" is finished. Six redlines, and a final offer in Islamabad

The agreement Trump described did not materialize overnight. Last week, Vice President JD Vance, Special Envoy Steve Witkoff, and Jared Kushner traveled to Islamabad for direct negotiations with Iran. A U.S. official told Breitbart News that the American delegation presented six non-negotiable redlines:

  • Allowing the retrieval of highly enriched uranium from sites bombed during Operation Midnight Hammer last June.
  • Dismantling all major nuclear enrichment facilities.
  • Ending all uranium enrichment.
  • Accepting a broader peace, security, and de-escalation framework that includes regional allies.
  • Fully opening the Strait of Hormuz with no tolls for passage.
  • Ending funding for terrorist proxies Hamas, Hezbollah, and the Houthis.

At the time, the Iranian regime refused to agree. Vance landed in Pakistan for those talks with no guarantee of success. He left Islamabad having delivered what he called "a very simple proposal, a method of understanding that is our final and best offer."

Vance expressed hope that the Iranians, after reflection, would find the terms in the best interest of both parties. That reflection, Trump now says, produced a full capitulation.

The pressure campaign that forced the table

None of this happened through polite requests. The path to Friday's announcement ran through Operation Midnight Hammer last June, when U.S. forces struck Iranian nuclear sites. It ran through a naval blockade of the Strait of Hormuz that choked Iran's ability to export oil and receive goods. And it ran through an explicit, public threat from the president himself.

Earlier in the confrontation, Trump wrote on Truth Social that Iran's president had asked the United States for a ceasefire. His response was blunt: the U.S. would not consider it until the Strait was "open, free, and clear." Iran's foreign minister, Seyed Abbas Araghchi, confirmed that all commercial vessels could pass through the Strait of Hormuz during the ceasefire period. Open questions remain. The mechanism by which Iran formally accepted the six redlines has not been detailed publicly. The precise terms of what Trump called "our transaction with Iran" are not yet public. And the administration has warned Iran before not to let Lebanon derail the ceasefire, a reminder that implementation is where agreements with Tehran have historically collapsed.

Trust but verify, heavily

Iran has a long history of agreeing to terms it later circumvents. The regime hid enrichment facilities from international inspectors for years. It funneled money to proxies through front companies and friendly governments. No American president should take Tehran's word at face value, and the administration's decision to keep the naval blockade in place suggests it does not intend to.

The test now is execution. Will Iran actually dismantle its enrichment facilities? Will it hand over the uranium from the bombed sites?
