Dak Prescott and Fiancée Cancel Lake Como Wedding One Month Before Ceremony

Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott and his fiancée, Sarah Jane Ramos, have called off their wedding, sending a note to guests canceling the ceremony scheduled for April 10 in Lake Como, Italy.

TMZ Sports first reported the email that was sent out to guests roughly a month before the couple was set to exchange vows. The note did not list a reason behind the decision.

"It is with heavy hearts that we have made the very difficult decision to cancel our wedding."

According to Fox News, the couple, who have two children together, also asked guests for grace in the note, writing that they "deeply apologize for any inconvenience this may cause you and we welcome your prayers."

The two reportedly called off their engagement over the weekend. According to TMZ Sports, the relationship had been rocky, and things exploded between the two at their joint bachelor and bachelorette parties. No further details about the parties were provided.

A Relationship That Looked Picture-Perfect Online

The timeline makes the collapse all the more striking. Prescott and Ramos announced their engagement on October 18, 2024. As recently as July 20, 2025, Prescott posted a series of photos on his Instagram of Ramos and his family. In October 2025, the couple attended the Farrah Fawcett Foundation's Tex-Mex Fiesta in Dallas together.

Ramos herself posted photos of her bridal shower back on February 23, calling it "the most intimate and beautiful bridal shower of my dreams." She gushed about her aunts, who hosted the event, and added:

"I truly believe you can get through anything in life as long as you have really great friends. I love these girls so much."

She also expressed excitement about the wedding itself, writing that she "can't wait to marry the love of my life with all of you by my side." Just days before the cancellation news broke, Ramos shared pictures of a trip with friends on Instagram. Nothing in the public-facing version of this relationship suggested it was on the verge of implosion.

The Broader Pattern

This is, at its core, a personal story. Two people with children together made a painful private decision that became public because one of them happens to be the highest-profile player on America's most-watched NFL franchise. There is no policy angle, no culture war, and no government failure to dissect.

But it does fit a pattern worth noting. The curated social media life and the actual life behind it increasingly exist on separate planets. Ramos was posting bridal shower photos and declarations of love right up until the wheels came off. That's not a criticism of her specifically; it's the nature of the platform. Everyone's highlight reel runs at full speed until it doesn't.

For Cowboys fans, the concern is simpler and more football-shaped. Prescott's personal turbulence adds another variable to a franchise that already has no shortage of them.

Dallas doesn't need its quarterback distracted heading into what promises to be another season of outsized expectations and familiar questions about whether this team can finally deliver in January.

Whatever happened between Prescott and Ramos, the couple has asked for prayers. That request, at least, deserves to be honored.
