Hold onto your popcorn, folks—Hollywood icon Lorenzo Lamas just dropped a political bombshell by endorsing a Republican for California governor.
According to Fox News, in a stunning break from his usual silence on political matters, Lamas has thrown his support behind Riverside Sheriff Chad Bianco, a staunch advocate for law enforcement, while sharply criticizing the current Democratic leadership under Gov. Gavin Newsom for what he sees as catastrophic mismanagement of the Golden State.
Lamas, famous for his action-packed roles in the '80s and '90s, has historically kept his political views under wraps to avoid ruffling feathers in an industry often aligned with progressive causes.
Yet, the actor felt compelled to speak out, pointing to what he describes as a long-standing failure to steward California’s vast wealth and resources effectively.
He didn’t mince words, calling the Democratic dominance in the state a deep-rooted problem that’s eroded everything from public safety to economic stability.
“The impact on the state of California with the current [Newsom] administration is nothing short of devastating,” Lamas declared, setting the tone for his unapologetic critique (Lorenzo Lamas).
Zeroing in on specific grievances, Lamas questioned where millions in welfare program funds are going, arguing that those in desperate need see little benefit from the spending.
He also recounted a personal tragedy—a wildfire that razed his hometown of Pacific Palisades, destroying his childhood home and elementary school, which he blames on inadequate firefighting resources due to poor budget priorities.
“I grew up in Pacific Palisades, that fire devastated my hometown,” Lamas lamented, painting a vivid picture of loss that hits close to home.
Adding salt to the wound, Lamas noted that many longtime residents, including second- and third-generation families in Pacific Palisades, can’t afford to rebuild due to sky-high costs and endless bureaucratic hurdles in getting plans approved. He sees hope in Bianco’s agenda, which promises to slash red tape and tackle the crushing cost of living that’s driving Californians out of their own communities.
Safety is another cornerstone of Lamas’ endorsement, as he expressed deep concern for his two daughters in Los Angeles, stressing the urgent need for a governor who prioritizes law enforcement to curb rampant crime.
“We've got to have a governor that's pro-law enforcement, that's going to keep our moms and our daughters safe on the streets,” Lamas urged, underlining a personal stake in Bianco’s platform.
Bianco, however, faces a steep climb in a state where Democrats hold a tight grip—no Republican has clinched a statewide race in nearly 20 years, and progressive heavyweights like Rep. Eric Swalwell and former Rep. Katie Porter are already in the ring to succeed the term-limited Newsom.
Still, Bianco isn’t without notable support beyond Lamas, as UFC legends Royce Gracie and Dan Henderson have also backed the sheriff, adding some heavyweight clout to his campaign—though a Newsom spokesperson shrugged off Lamas’ critique with a dismissive “Who?” that’s as cold as a winter day in San Francisco.
